Educational Pathways Program
Corrimal is the base school for the Northern Illawarra Schools group in the Educational Pathways Program. Announcement was made earlier this year that the program has secured ongoing funding acknowledging the importance of career learning and exploration for NSW Public School students. About the program
The Educational Pathways Program is being delivered in selected government high schools across NSW. The Educational Pathways Program complements existing careers education activities through the provision of additional resources, including two key roles; Head Teachers Careers and School-Based Apprentice and Traineeships (SBAT) Engagement
Officers, who work closely with schools to:
• Ensure students have access to sound advice, great training pathways and rewarding work opportunities.
• Promote SBAT opportunities, a proven pathway for students to successfully transition to work and/or further education.
• Connect students with employers and provide tailored support throughout the SBAT journey.
• Streamline delivery of the program across groups of schools.
• Support students with barriers to education

A new approach to careers education that sees Head
Teacher Careers leading strategic planning, delivering
professional learning, and creating engaging learning
opportunities and pathways for students.
Tailored support from dedicated SBAT Engagement
Officers to increase access to School Based
Apprenticeships and Traineeships at participating schools
Engaging job readiness workshops that give students
practical tips to help them prepare for their first job
and inspire them to explore rewarding vocational
career pathways
Inspiring events, talks and mentoring from NSW
Training Awards Ambassadors who have explored
a vocational education path and gone on to achieve
career success.
Group Training Organisations (GTOs) facilitate fee-free
pre-apprenticeship and pre-traineeship courses, delivered
by training providers, that may include work experience
with host employers.
A referral service that provides specialist support to
students to help them either re-engage with education,
transition to vocational training or find employment.
Targeted support to help early school leavers under
the age of 17 transition from school and complete
their first course at TAFE NSW.
