Cougars Cup 2018

Cougars Cup Trophy

On August 16, Corrimal High School students participated in the 3rd Annual Cougar’s Cup (Corrimal HS vs Woonona HS) held on the senior field at Robert Ziems Park. This annual competition showcases three teams – U14s Boys, Opens Girls and Opens Boys – with the overall victory going to the school with the most accumulated points overall after all three games.

The U14s performed spectacularly in the opening match. A great defensive line along with some outstanding offensive performances by our young students helped lead Corrimal High School to a solid 16-4 victory. The Opens Girls match followed with some strong running from our Corrimal High School squad. While the lead changed several times throughout the progression of the match, the toughness of our girls resulted in 32-28 point win. The Opens Boys were last to play and were quickly on the defensive as Woonona High School made some great early line breaks. The boys, not to be out done, and after a little inspirational half time rev up by the coaches, put points on the board. Unfortunately, they were not able to win the game, however, a last 30 second kick from Brendon Tiere and an amazing catch by Arlyn Connelly resulted in the extra points needed to walk away with the Cougar’s Cup Trophy for the third year in a row.

Great effort by all players, the outstanding spectators, coaches Mr Luskan, Mr Mulder and Mr Wellings and coordinator Mr Foster.
