The first game of the Friday Oztag Lunch time Comp started this Friday (22/11). This match saw Hector’s Homies V2 vs Brute Force in a thrilling game that ended in a close draw. Brute Force was worried during the week with the prospect of having to play Hector’s Homies and their star-studded line up. Luckily for Brute Force many of the stars from Hector’s Homies were absent in the match.
Brute Force took an early 4 try lead. Hectors Homies came back, scoring late from some individual brilliance from Harry Dawson. Hectors Homies steel curtain right side was led by Meripa Teo took everything Brute Force could throw at them and withstood. Kodie Smith tried his best but forced his hand one too many times coming up with a couple of costly turnovers. Dylan Curtain showed some elusive brilliance for Hector’s Homies down the left-hand side. Scoring what would have bene a spectacular windmill slam dunk try, only for the ref to disallow it.
Brute Force lead by a ring-in Brendon Tiere from “Thegoats” took a commanding lead to start and defended well under pressure in the dying minutes. The middleman Kane Dugan flashed brilliance at times and forced a number of errors. Bailey Farrington prove dangerous in open space making numerous line breaks. Tiarne Edwards continuing pooping up in the right place and the right time to and proved a handful for the defence.
Next week will see Brute Force take on Thegoats, both having their chance of sealing their first win. With spots for teams still available it is anyone’s competition.
