Library News - Book Week

Library Upgrade:

We have recently been working on some library upgrades at Corrimal High School. This has included moving the fiction and non-fiction resources to one side of the library to make room for an upcoming Maker Space. We have installed an additional ten desktop computers to the downstairs computer lab and have created a new multimedia room upstairs with 20 computers and a new projector. The teaching space in the library has gained a new projector, screen and speakers and will soon be newly furnished and a relaxed work/reading space created near the careers advisor room.

The new open-plan space provides flexibility and ensures that the space can easily be modified in for the changing needs of the school. We hope the technology-rich multimodal spaces should enable students, staff and the community to be the best learners they can be.

We thank students and staff for their patience during the upgrade and look forward to sharing some transformation photographs with you soon.

Did you know you can access the school library from your desktop, laptop, tablet or phone???

Simply sign in to your student portal and add “My School Library” to your essentials home screen.

You can access our database of library resources including books, journal articles, websites and videos from the comfort of your own home. You can also download the App!

Clickview:

A reminder that Corrimal High School has invested in ClickView for student access. Online access to our ClickView library means that every student can access videos easily at home for research, homework, assignments and leisure.

All students can access ClickView Online by following these steps:

  1. Go to this link (https://online.clickview.com.au/)
  2. Enter your NSW student email address (example: john.smith@education.nsw.gov.au)
  3. Select your school (Corrimal High School)
  4. Enter your student portal username and password to login
  5. Search for videos or look in your subject folders

Student access is restricted to videos that are appropriately rated for their particular age group, according to the Australian Classification Standards.

If you wish to stream to your phone or tablet there is also a Clickview App (available for Android and iOS) that, once installed, behaves very much like Netflix or iView streaming services.

Premiers Reading Challenge 2019:

There is a little over a month to go for students in Years 7 -9 to finalise their Student Reading Records (SRRs) for this year’s Premiers Reading Challenge. Please ensure that all SRRs are completed online before Friday August 30 so Miss Zalewski can finalise and submit student entries.

CBCA Book Week 2019:

Theme: Reading is My Secret Power

Dates: 17 - 23 August 2019

Each year across Australia, the Children Book Council Australia brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Book Week. During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature. This year we will be celebrating at Corrimal High School with book displays and activities to celebrate the secret powers within all of us. During the week we will be having a number of activities running including, bookmark & mask making, paper craft, online quiz challenges, reader giveaways and much more. We look forward to seeing great participation levels across the school.

Corrimal High School stands on the traditional lands of the Wadi Wadi people of the Dharawal nation. We honour their descendants, who stand with us today as part of our school community and we value the spiritual and cultural traditions they celebrate. We pay our respects to the young generations and future elders as they are the strength that will keep these traditions and dreaming alive. We also extend this respect to all those in our community.
