This whole school approach to student learning has resulted in Corrimal High School being identified as a high performing school for NAPLAN.
Senior students are supported in their learning with a dedicated HSC Improvement Program implemented every Wednesday afternoon. Students are supported by a variety of staff with both student centred and staff led sessions complemented by sessions focusing on motivation, goal setting and mental health. Engagement in this program has seen improvements in academic achievement and HSC attainment for our students as well as 100% acceptance into university for all students who apply.
Key improvement areas for Corrimal High School include a consolidated approach to the development of the whole child with a specific focus on Reading growth, Numeracy growth, Pathways / Transitions and Attendance. In addition to this, the school will maintain its’ current approach to improving HSC outcomes and attainment for all students. By addressing these key improvement areas, Corrimal High School can ensure a comprehensive approach to student development, leading to improved academic achievement, increased engagement, and successful transitions into adulthood for all students.
The school is set in attractive, safe and secure grounds that include extensive playing fields and an agriculture farm. As the only school in the Northern Illawarra with a farm, the school is well placed to provide practical, hands-on engaging learning opportunities which develop a range of skills.
This includes working with the sheep, goats, chickens and alpacas, as well as seed development, plant propagation and management, aquaponics, hydroponics and paddock management. Students in Home Economics benefit from the ability to grow, harvest and cook vegetables grown on site, and our Construction / Metals & Engineering students are provided with many opportunities to build new animal shelters as well as other landscaping to improve the farm.
Our future-focused Industrial Arts / Technology building provides two Woodwork rooms, one Metalwork room, two Design labs as well as two Trade Training Centres for Construction and Metals / Engineering. These facilities ensure that Corrimal High School is well placed to provide real life, industry standard learning for our students. This will also create opportunities to design and build school-based projects to improve school facilities as well as preparing students for life after school. In addition to these new facilities, the building incorporates two STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) rooms and two general learning spaces. As one of three schools making up the Illawarra Academy of STEM Excellence, these facilities ensure that our students have access to high quality, high impact STEM curriculum and learning opportunities as well as the opportunity to engage with industry experts from within the local area.
Students are provided with opportunities to excel on the sporting field with representative experiences provided for students at school, zone, regional and state level, while students with an interest in the arts are supported with opportunities to participate in Visual Art and Design, Music, Chinese Language, Public Speaking and Dance.
Improvements to sports facilities, kitchens and performance spaces at Corrimal High School have significantly enhanced both the academic and recreational facilities available to students. These improvements reflect our holistic approach to education, and address both physical health and well-being through sports facilities and nurturing students' artistic and practical skills through enhanced performance and kitchen spaces. Such investments have contributed to a more vibrant and engaging learning environment at Corrimal High School.

Student voice plays a significant role in the future development of the school with an active and committed Student Representative Council and Koori Leadership Council engaging regularly with the school Senior Executive.
