Students from the IO class in the Support Unit have been learning in HSIE about the Orang-utans that live in Borneo and Sumatra in Indonesia. People have damaged and removed large parts of the rainforests for farming so the orang-utans have nowhere to live. Currently there are only 12000 left in Indonesia.
The IO class decided to do something about this. They asked students to give a gold coin they could donate to the Australian Orang-utan Project on behalf of Corrimal High School.
The Orange class from the Support Unit raised $105.00 from gold coin donations! Thank you to students, parents/carers and staff who contributed to this wonderful cause. A cheque has been sent to the Orang-utan Project.
